Okonomi @ Publika, Solaris Dutamas
7:30 AM
Recently I was invited to a food review at
Publika. The restaurant name is Okonomi. It is a new Japanese restaurant
located at Publika. To be honest, this is my first Japanese food review. :p
The name ‘Okonomi’ comes from the same
Japanese word meaning ‘as you like it’. At Okonomi, they encourage you to
indulge in your creativity to find a sushi roll that’s just right for you using
their unique ingredients such as fresh fruits, katsu chicken, soy wraps and
many more. Okonomi is the first Japanese restaurant that can customize your own
sushi in Malaysia. Now you can customize your own sushi.
But don’t worry if you can’t decide, opt to
choose from their house roll instead, created to please the sushi aficionado,
first time sushi eater and everyone in between.
Okonomi prepare all their cuisine using
urban Japanese cooking methods and techniques, bringing out the natural essence
of the freshest, wildest, most seasonal flavors. Besides that, Okonomi’s menu
also offers an array of other mouthwatering dishes and luscious dessert that
are sure to satisfy any appetite.

Matcha Latte with soft serve ice-cream-
Rm12.90
Azuki Float- Rm12.90
Avocado Prawn Salad- Rm18.90
Let’s begin our meal with a refreshing salad!
A combination of succulent prawn, sliced avocado, Tobiko and citrus salad
dressing. Falling in love with their citrus salad dressing. *Love*
Customize Sushi Maki Roll by Chef Alex Lau
It is half white rice and half brown rice
with the fillings of pickled cucumber, jelly fish, smoked duck and topping of Ebiko.
There 3 steps to customize your sushi roll.
First, choose your base. Second, choose your favorite filling based on the size
you choose. You can upgrade to premium filling with only Rm5+ each. And third,
choose your sauces and toppings. Their sauces and dressing are all handmade.
Crunchy Tempura Roll- Rm20.90
Combination of Urumaki, seaweed wrap, white
rice, tempura tiger prawn, mixed mushroom, asparagus, cheddar mayo, grated
parmesan and tempura flakes.
Soft Shell Crab Pasta- Rm16.90
Crispy soft shell crab, fresh green and
Ebiko with rich sesame dressing.
Crab Korokke- Rm9.90
Gently breaded crabmeat deep fried with
poached butter and cream sauce. It is mushy enough and I like the savoury crab
meat. It is so yummy!
Chicken Karaage- Rm9.90
Caramelized Kimchi flavored chicken tenders,
battered with cereal. It is crunchy enough.
Matcha Lover Parfait- Rm18.90
It’s dessert time!!! It is a twist of their
azuki shiramata parfait for the matcha lovers with addition of soft serve
matcha ice-cream and a matcha chocolate bamboo stick. It layered with some corn
flakes, red bean paste, rice mocha, jelly, matcha syrup and whipped cream.
Aren’t this dessert looks pretty?
Matcha Lava Cake- Rm16.90
This is my favorite! Strongly recommended!
This matcha white chocolate cake filled with delicious matcha chocolate molten
lava served with vanilla ice-cream, matcha chocolate bamboo sticks and fresh
strawberry drizzled with powdered sugar. No doubt, this cake is sweet but it
taste really good. When I was eating this lava cake, the matcha is so rich in
the cake and I was like in heaven. I will definitely go back again for this
Matcha Lava Cake.
Overall, their foods are delicious. If you
love Japanese foods or you like sushi roll, you can go to Okonomi to customize
your own sushi and give your sushi a name maybe? Environment is nice, very
clean and cozy.
