Who loves Japanese curry like I do? Recently I had
been invited by The Butterfly Malaysia to attend a food review on CoCo
Ichibanya Curry House @ One Utama.
“Coco Ichibanya” is a very famous curry house from
Japan and it is established for more than 30 years. It is a well-known
restaurant chain by many countries and it has over 1400 branches in Japan and
other countries such as USA, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand and Malaysia.
They are opening their first “CoCo Ichibanya Curry
House” in One Utama, Petaling Jaya. This will be the first outlet in Malaysia.
Coco Ichibanya located in One Utama still stick to the chain’s uniqueness “The
Tastiness you can choose”. Patrons can customize their meal here ranging from
the quantity of rice, spiciness level of the curry, topping and even the
addition of the curry sauce.
Smoked Salmon Salad- Rm10
I did enjoy a lot in this food review and all the
foods are really nice. For the starters we have Smoked Salmon Salad and also
Bacon and Pumpkin Salad. There are two sauces available, which the sesame
(goma) dressing and also the Japanese soy sauce (shoyu) dressing. The texture of the smoked salmon is soft. And
it is very fresh too.
Bacon and Pumpkin Salad- Rm8
For the Bacon and Pumpkin Salad, the pumpkin is cooked
with the skin and it is really taste nice. The softness of the pumpkin is just
nice to eat. I eat this salad with the 2 dressing also. Both of the dressings
are really goes well with the salad! It will definitely a
healthy salad as your starter.
Beef Yakiniku Curry- Rm23
Since there are few levels of spiciness of the curry,
we managed to try it all. Firstly, we have the Beef Yakiniku Curry in standard
level of the spiciness. The curry
spiciness level is well suiting me. This contain a little bit spicy but can be
acceptable. The beef is tender enough and it combines with the onion which I
think is a perfect match. If you can’t take spicy food, I think standard level
is just good for you.
Pork Cutlet Omelette Curry- Rm26
We also have the Pork Cutlet Omelette Curry which is
Level 1. Their Pork Cutlet Omelette Curry is their signature dish and also is
the best seller in CoCo Ichibanya Curry House. The pork cutlet fried to
perfection. Its crunchy yet yummy.
Wagyu Beef Steak Curry- Rm48
We have spiciness Level 2 for Wagyu Beef Steak. The
Level 2 Spiciness is just a little bit spicier than Level 1. The Wagyu Beef
Steak is very tender and juicy. The quality of the beef is also really high!
Strongly recommended for those who love beef.
Creamed Mushroom Omelette Curry- Rm26
Next, we also have the Creamed Mushroom Omelette
Curry in Level 3 of the spiciness. I always like creamy foods and when Japanese
curry combine with cream I can get mad of it. This is my favorite so far. The
curry is creamy enough and the mushroom is quite a lot. Vegetarian can have
this dish when you come to CoCo Ichibanya Curry House.
Grilled Squid with Mayonnaise Curry- Rm24
The squid is well-seasoned and grilled to perfection.
The squid is tender yet moderately chewy. It is more delicious when dipping
with the mayonnaise sauce! However, it is too spicy for me. In addition, we
have an additional curry sauce which is Level 5 spiciness. I expected it is
very spicy, but as for me I feel that Level 4 is spicier than Level 5.
Matcha Milkshake- Rm11
For the drinks, we have the Matcha Milkshake. It is
taste so good with full of green tea aroma in it. It is very smooth. Green tea
plus milk is the best combination ever.
Overall, their Japanese curry is truly authentic. The
best part of this restaurant is you can customize your own curry dish by selecting
the quantity of rice, spiciness adjustment and additional curry sauce. From
mild to Level 5 spiciness, there are total 7 spiciness levels to choose. You
even can add additional topping like boiled egg, clam, cheese, kimchi and so
on. The price range of the topping is from Rm3 to Rm33. Besides that, there is
mild curry just for child. Don’t worry!
